Dry-Cargo Barge Operations
SCF is a fully integrated barge and towboat operator, giving us the flexibility and the capacity to deliver.
Our barge fleet handles millions of tons of bulk goods every year along the U.S. Inland Waterways.
With strategically located ports and terminals we are also able to offer efficient interchange between river, rail, and road transport.
Cargo Capability
Our covered hopper barge fleet is among the largest and newest on the U.S. Inland Waterways, able to handle the volume and the frequency needed by U.S. agriculture and industrial customers.
Serving U.S. Waterways
We are able to transport cargoes throughout the U.S. Inland Waterways, including the Mississippi River, Illinois River, Tennessee River, Ohio River and their tributaries, and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterways.
Barge Statistics
Generally speaking, our dry-cargo barges are capable of transporting approximately 1,500 to 2,200 tons of cargo. A typical 15 dry-cargo barge tow can hold the equivalent of approximately 1,050 trucks or 216 railcars.
